Free Background Checks Do Not Reveal Everything
By John Buckle
It’s sad but it’s becoming increasingly important that background checks are used more and more these days. This applies whether the issue at hand is a new employee, you’re starting a new business, checking a new tenant to live in your property and even personal relationships. And while undertaking completely free background checks do have some value, you should be aware that free background checks are limited and do not reveal the complete picture.
So why should you consider paying for a background checks, when a free background screening is an option? There are many reasons, here are just a few:
1. A free background check will provide some information but it is limited, lets say you need a credit check on somebody then it is extremely likely that you’ll need to pay a credit agency to undertake that check for you because a free background check can’t cover that matter.
2. The scope of the available free resources and the time needed to use them will limit the data that can be collated when doing your background check. Is it really practical for you to travel to the many different locations and jurisdictions ensuring you have all the information?
What if you miss something! Performing a background check is not that difficult but you have to admit you are not a professional investigator. Would you therefore know just what to look for in a background check, you may find something that should ring alarm bells and not be aware of it. A professional will understand the red flags that indicate further research is required.
You may be limited by law in what you are allowed to search for when looking into the background of a potential employee for instance. If you are unaware of the law it would be very easy for you to break that law and who know’s what consequences that may bring.
In conclusion depending upon the importance of the background check it is feasible to carry out your own background checks but if the purpose of the background check is of great importance you should consider paying a professional to do the job for you.
If you decide that a free background check will provide all the information you need please remember you are taking the risk that you may miss something, paying a professional to carry out your background check this isn’t something you would need to worry about it.
