High blood sugar

I was diagnosed type 2 two years ago.
I have tried various medications with not much sucess.
My diet has been modified greatly and I still continue to struggle with levels above 300. Numbers in the 400′s are not uncommon.

My questions are:
Why are my morning numbers so high if I have not eaten anything in the past 12 hours?
Why are those numbers still around 300 two hours after lunch?
Lunch is a salad with oil and vinegar. Sometimes grilled chicken.
Could I possibly have what they call “difficult to control” diabetes?

Answer:
I would think that insulin is probably the next step for you and I’m kind of surprised that your doctor hasn’t suggested it. If you are still registering between 300 and 400 mg/dl two hours after eating your first bite, especially two years after being on oral meds, something needs to change.
If you do go the insulin route, you’ll find lots of support here. I started on insulin, but after a few weeks my pancreas started to bounce back a bit and I’ve been getting by since then on oral meds (well, plus closely watching my diet and exercising). Insulin doesn’t hurt and is very effective.
