Posterior chain
Trainers at my gym talk about working the “posterior chain.” What is it?
answer:
The posterior chain is a brawny team of muscles that includes those in your lower back, your glutes, your hamstrings, and your calf muscles. They’re among the most powerful, yet most men ignore them because they can’t see them in the mirror. Don’t be one of those guys. Strengthening the posterior chain will help just about every part of your game, whether you want to jump higher, run faster, or change directions quicker. While these muscles can be addressed individually with isolation lifts, I suggest you focus on compound exercises like squats, deadlifts, back extensions, and jumps that promote intermuscular teamwork. Incorporate three sets of each exercise into your weekly routine and see if you don’t notice a difference.
